Legere Oboe Reed European Scrape

Légère European Scrape oboe reeds respond instantly and are ready to play straight from the box. The design allows for a warm, centered sound with ease of projection. They never need to be moistened and are available in three strengths, Medium-Soft, Medium and Medium-Hard.

All reeds are made to an initial aperture between 0.68-0.72 mm, but this will change after the reed is played. The total length of the reed is 69.8-70.2 mm and it plays at 440-442 Hz depending on the positioning in the reed well. They never need to be soaked and are unaffected by any weather or humidity.

Available in three strengths:

• Medium
• Medium Hard

While students should start with Medium-Soft or Medium strengths, advanced players may find any of the three strengths suitable for their embouchure.

Legere European Scrape oboe reeds are made from a unique compound which is their own patented trade secret. The reeds are made with the purest and safest, BPA free polypropylene. Unlike other brands that use injection molds or stamps to produce synthetic reeds, Legere reeds are assembled and cut on computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Guided by their own mathematical description of the reed, they are cut in halves to match their unique profiles. The halves are then bonded together again using a digitally controlled system and are later hand package with the utmost care. The result is a reed which is perfectly balanced and has just the right combination of tip thickness, heart, and flexibility.
