"Drawing on the recent success of the Artisan trumpet collection, Vincent Bach is proud to announce the launch of a completely new line of trumpet, cornet, and trombone mouthpieces. These Artisan mouthpieces are a tribute to the success of the legendary craftsman with design elements reminiscent of the 1920’s era models built in New York City.

From humble beginnings, Vincent Bach created a legacy building trumpet mouthpieces in New York City after a repair technician damaged his personal mouthpiece. In 1918, he invested $300 in a foot operated lathe to begin the business of producing mouthpieces. These mouthpieces quickly became some of the most popular in their time and the success would eventually lead Vincent to begin crafting trumpets and trombones. As his business grew, ownership was eventually transferred to the Selmer Company (now Conn-Selmer, Incorporated). Since that time, a complete selection of mouthpieces hand-picked by Mr. Bach have been closely guarded and maintained inside the factory located in Elkhart, Indiana."

Vincent Bach was a rare combination of artist and engineer. He was constantly changing his mouthpiece designs until the mid 1960’s when they became more standardized.

The formalization of the 27 throat and backbore to cup letter (A=24, B=7, C= 10, etc.) created a standard for the mouthpiece making that is still used today. These standards are known today as the Classic Series.
