  • Will Watson

    Bmus Hons ARAM LRAM

    TRUMPET

Will began playing the trumpet at the age of 7 and as a young player he was principal trumpet of the National Youth Wind Orchestra. After studying at The Royal Academy of music with great trumpeters such as Rod Franks, John Wallace and his father James Watson, Will freelanced in London playing with some of the UK's best symphony orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and top chamber ensembles. After a trial for Principal trumpet of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, he decided to see what else the world had to offer. Will joined Boosey & Hawkes Musical Instruments as European Sales representative. During this time Will travelled extensively around the world visiting the companies many manufacturing facilities and advising on product development. In addition, the experience gained at many international trade fairs has given Will an unrivalled knowledge of the instrument manufacturing, sales and distribution business. Later, Will began working for Conn-Selmer USA as the UK sales and marketing manager. Responsible for the sales and promotion of the great American brass and wind lines such as Vincent Bach, Leblanc, Selmer and Conn, Will gained a fantastic insight into the manufacture and distribution of the instruments upon which so many of us rely. Today, Will is playing again but just for fun. On GR66C or Schilke 12A4A mouthpiece and a Yamaha Gen 1 LA Bb trumpet. For playing in brass bands, Will chooses to play a GR67 #7 mouthpiece and a Prototype Besson Soveriegn 929 Bb cornet with gold brass bell.
