Griego 'Ian Bousfield' Trombone Mouthpiece

Overview
Features

Each mouthpiece has been uniquely designed for an original feel, these mouthpieces are made with a functional use in mind. Each mouthpiece also includes two tone adjustment rings which allows for a customisable response and a high quality neoprene pouch.

Orchestral Series

The O Series will tend towards being more free, while retaining the ability to sing with the head voice. With the O series has the ability to play with both head and chest playing, but the color, and weight of sound is more towards a blending darker sound, when pushed the O series is still alive and clear.

The mouthpieces designed in this series are deeper than the V series which are designed to be a solo mouthpiece. The O stands for Orchestral and will provide you with a deeper voice, richer sound, more weight of sound, and a sound that will blend easier with your colleagues.

O3 - Cup Diameter: 1.060" Throat: .277"

"This is the monster of the series, and is designed for those people that want to throw air through their equipment. This has a tremendous weight of sound and I would recommend it to either those with very developed embouchures or those who are exclusively second trombone players. Despite that, it will still work admirably over the entire register."

O4 - Cup Diameter: 1.024" Throat: .277"

"Perhaps the slightly smaller feel than traditional four's, I find this a good balance between weight of sound and technical fluency. Whereas traditional fours tend to be difficult in the high register in regards to clarity. This mouthpiece sings effortlessly all the way into the upper register."

O5 - Cup Diameter: 1.024" Throat: .277"

"The Classic". A perfect middle of the road mouthpiece that without compromising quality will allow you to cross styles effortlessly. Unlike previous fives this mouthpiece is acoustically perfect across every register, and I would particularly recommend this for those who developing their basic technique as well as the hard accomplished professional. "

Virtuoso Series

The V series will give the piping clear projecting, radiance which sounds so good on top of a section, or in front of the ensemble playing solos. You can float in the high register or throw as much air as you want.

V3 - Cup Diameter: 1.060" Throat: .274"

"This mouthpiece is the origin of the line and is the mouthpiece I use most of the time. It gives me phenomenal clarity, flexibility over the entire range, with a very personal sound. For me I still consider this an ideal first trombone mouthpiece in the orchestra. If you are used to playing something with a smaller rim, it may take a while to get used to. Give it a go, the width of the rim gives you warmth of sound, and amazing flexibility. whilst the shallowness of the cup brings a unique combination of; incredible high register with warmth of middle register."

V4 - Cup Diameter: 1.024" Throat: .276"

"The V4 is a slightly scaled down version of the V3. The overall design of the V4 is exactly the same as Ian's personal V3. The difference is in cup diameter. This mouthpiece will work for those that find the V3 too wide in cup diameter. I Love this mouthpiece and I would definitely use this on a lot of repertoire, in particular if I were playing in a traditional brass or wind band."

V5 - Cup Diameter: 1.004" Throat: .274"

"The V5 is designed around a traditional 5 cup diameter. The V5 for me is an indulgence. It has an almost turbocharged high register, projection, and clarity combined with the sweetest of sounds. Frankly I can not play this mouthpiece without laughing with sheer delight. I recommend this mouthpiece to people playing first trombone in brass bands, or those playing a lot of light playing, or crossover jazz. I would also recommend this as a trombone player's first large bore mouthpiece."

Alto - Cup Diameter: 0.999" Throat: .262"

"I have spent decades playing alto mouthpieces. My conclusions are, that for me, something around a conventional size 9 (my Model Alto) is perfect for most classical repertoire both orchestral and solo. These mouthpiece have the same rim and cup profiles as the rest of my range and is again a great balance between freedom and compression."
